tease

Things have been really busy around here. Do I say that every post? Probably. But after two consecutive weekends of out-of-town guests, and a tornado of activity before that that I can't remember or maybe honestly have just blocked out, I feel like summer is coming to a close right before my eyes. I had big plans for all the projects I was going to have completed by the fall; a quick and cursory internet search is telling me Fall is officially September 22nd this year. That's a seriously close deadline, and while it has been making me a little bit like a failure, it has also stoked a fire underneath me.  I have been working.  Little by little, bit by bit, but something every day.

I can't believe it's been a week since my last post. I'm not happy about that. I love sharing this space with you, and I have so much to tell you about. I have been trying new things, researching, experimenting. I am picking up a dye book from the library this afternoon. I am collecting bags of dye things like a crazy lady. Our radiator has been covered with avocados. And I went back to my darling Peapod and bought another armful of exquisitely beautiful things - I was planning another crib quilt but maybe I got greedy, and maybe it's going to be a queen sized? Decisions, decisions. (Also, as an aside - she totally had a bolt of that gorgeous chambray, but did sell out of if instantaneously. We know a good thing when we see one.)

I would love to tell you more. I have so much more to tell you. But time is short, today. I am weighing decisions, comparing colors, doing layouts. Trying to keep things simple - that is so much harder than it seems. Simplicity. I have a tendency to gild the lily, and I am trying to train myself away from that, but it's been a trial and error process. Simple is what I respond to. Simple is what drops my jaw, when the materials do all the talking. Think Rothko. Think wabi-sabi.

I'm working on it.

I know I'm a tease. But you like it.
